A note on an ignorant dog owner

So I'm walking Bam, because he was in my face & being annoying at home... and he's pretty good with his Gentle Leader on. He doesn't pull too much, he never barks at dogs barking at him from windows and whatnot, at the most... he just tries really hard to keep looking at other dogs that are nearby, which I always correct. I round a corner, give him some water, and suddenly some guy with a small brown Poodle is there, and Bam starts freaking the fuck out. Barking, fighting his leash, and the whole time I'm correcting him, trying to fix his Gentle Leader, and pulling him the opposite way as I walk away. Now, the idiot other owner is yelling "THAT AIN'T RIGHT!" at me over... and over... and over... Sir, you clearly know nothing about dogs. I, on the other hand, do. Working in the Veterinary field, and just plain being a responsible dog owner & making myself aware of breeds and tendencies, as well as training tips, has given me at least a firm grasp on dogs in general. I know from experience that people look at a big dog, and assume "PITBULL! PITBULLS ARE MEAN!" (this holds true with dogs that look absolutely nothing like a Pit, as well.) I can look at your dog and tell it's a Poodle. I know enough about small breeds, and Poodles, to know that it's probably spoiled, and spoiled can lead to aggressive. He looked at my dog and only saw an aggressive Pitbull. Sorry, dude, I have an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Staffordshire Terriers were NEVER bred as fighting dogs, unlike the American Pitbull Terrier. American Staffordshire Terriers only share close appearance with American Pitbull Terriers. My dog only responds in aggression to aggressive dogs (the only other time he ever even grumbled at another dog is when an American Bulldog across the street started barking at him). Dogs don't need to show outward aggression to be aggressive and have another dog respond aggressively. Your little spoiled-ass small breed dog caused the problem, and you made it worse by freaking out and feeding their energy.

A Cocker Spaniel is more likely to attack you than any Pitbull. That's a fucking fact.

DOG OWNERS, PLEASE FUCKING LEARN ABOUT DOGS BEFORE YOU GO AND BUY SOME PUPPY MILL DOG. I KNOW THEY'RE CUTE, BUT YOU'RE IGNORANT, AND CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THAN YOU KNOW. Please, tell me why nearly all people who actually WORK with animals LOVE bully breeds? Probably because they're great.

Ignorance is one of my absolute BIGGEST pet peeves.
